NBC11 Sports: Gila Ridge football pulls out another big win

Crim Swim Invitational brings local and regional talent to Yuma, Cibola Cross Country competes against thousands of athletes.

YUMA, Ariz. (KYMA) - The Gila Ridge Hawks football team traveled to Phoenix to face off against undefeated Saint Mary's. They came out with a gritty 21-14 win to improve to 4-1 on the season.

The Crim Swim Invitational took place at the Valley Aquatic Center in Yuma. Several local schools and out-of-county teams gathered for the event.

Top three team finishes for the boys included Cibola in first place, Paradise honors out of Surprise, Arizona in second place and Yuma High in third.

Cibola also placed first for the girls team, followed by Yuma Catholic in second and Paradise Honors in third.

Cibola Cross Country competed at the Desert Twilight invitational against roughly six thousand athletes. Top finishers in their respective events included Caius Lastra (25th), Marina Corona (33rd), Isabella Ochoa in (37th) and Maliyah Wills (87th).
