NBC 11 Sports: Beal introduced in Phoenix, Carroll joins rookie history & Yuma All-Stars keep rolling
YUMA, Ariz., (KYMA, KECY) - In an eventful day for all Arizona sports fans, Phoenix made two big splashes from the hardwood to the baseball diamond.
Suns fans were introduced to All-Star Bradley Beal in a press conference where he addressed forming the next "Big Three" with Kevin Durant and Devin Booker in pursuit of a championship ring.
Meanwhile, Diamondbacks fans were treated to rookie Corbin Carroll being named as a National League starter for the 2023 MLB All-Star Game in Seattle. Carroll becomes just the 24th rookie to be named a starter in the midsummer classic in MLB history.
Plus, Yuma baseball continues to show out in San Diego - with the YBBL Senior All-Star team winning each of its first two games in the California District Tournament. After trailing 2-0 into the 5th inning on Thursday, a spark on offense from San Luis' Arnold Jimenez lit a fire in the bats and led to eight team doubles in the final three innings en route to a 9-4 win.
The Yuma boys will now head to the final on Sunday for a chance to play in the state tournament in Eastvale.
