NBC 11 Sports: Seibel to step away, Cibola hoops steals two from Crims & Raiders soccer goes the OT distance
YUMA, Ariz., (KYMA, KECY) - While the Yuma Criminals stole the day with head coach Bo Seibel's resignation announcement, there were still plenty of games to get to on Friday night.
Starting on the hardwood, the Cibola Raiders swept the night - beating the Yuma Criminals in both boys and girls hoops.
The Cibola boys outlasting a great effort from the Crims in a 59-51 final, while the girls side was not so close. The Lady Raiders protected their home floor in a big 78-18 win for the ninth win of the year.
In other basketball news, both Antelope boys and girls teams took care of San Luis. Israel Ruiz leading the way with 21 points and six boards in the 66-58 win. Kenan Ragels added 16 points, while Valentine Casares and Abraham Moreno each added nine points each.
Jocelyn Guillen once again led the Lady Rams with 12 points, followed by Yareli Manriquez with nine points in the 44-23 win.
Over in the Imperial Valley, a thriller on the hardwood between the Calipatria Hornets and Brawley Wildcats boys teams. Calipatria coming away with a 44-43 win in overtime.
Rounding out the night, another overtime game on the soccer pitch.
The Cibola boys soccer team went the distance through two overtime periods in a deadlock with the visiting Chandler Wolves. The 1-1 final being the third tie on the early season for the Raiders.
