Padres face elimination after Brewers walk-off game two

MILWAUKEE (KYMA) - The San Diego Padres are on the brink of elimination after the Milwaukee Brewers rallied for a 4-3 walk-off victory in Game 2 of the National League Division Series Sunday night.

The loss gives Milwaukee a 2-0 series lead as the series now shifts to San Diego for Game 3.

The Padres controlled much of Sunday’s game, taking an early lead behind an RBI single from Ty France in the first inning. France came through again in the seventh with a two-out RBI single to give San Diego a 3-2 advantage late.

Michael King provided a strong start for the Padres, allowing just one earned run over five innings while walking no batters and striking out six.

But Milwaukee continued to battle and eventually put the game in the hands of Jackson Chourio in the ninth inning.

Padres closer Mason Miller entered the game looking to record a six-out save, but three walks loaded the bases with two outs in the ninth. Chourio then battled through a lengthy at-bat before connecting with a 101 mph fastball and lining a two-run walk-off single into center field.

The hit brought home Christian Yelich to tie the game before Sal Frelick scored the winning run, completing the Brewers comeback.

The Padres now return home to Petco Park needing three consecutive victories to advance, including a potential Game 5 back in Milwaukee.

Game 3 is scheduled for Tuesday at 6:30 p.m. local time.
