Buss family clashes over Los Angeles Lakers’ reported sale

Los Angeles Lakers

(CNN, KYMA) - Family drama seems to be brewing around regarding the sale of the Los Angeles Lakers.

An attorney for Jeanie Buss said she is against the sale of the family's remaining 17.8% stake in the team to former Disney CEO Bob Iger and venture capitalist Josh Kushner, who is the brother of Jared Kushner, President Donald Trump's son-in-law.

Iger and Kushner bought a majority stake in the club last week from Mark Walter for a record-breaking $12.5 billion.

Buss' attorney said an ESPN report that five out of the six Buss siblings agreed to sell is false, and buss is the controlling owner and CEO of the Lakers.

Buss has served as governor of the Lakers since 2013, a designation she would lose if the minority sale were to go through.

The majority sale to Iger and Kushner still needs the approval of the NBA's Board of Governors to be completed.
