Rams comeback effort falls short in 27-24 loss to Falcons

Los Angeles came out flat and couldn't come back on 'Monday Night Football' in Atlanta

ATLANTA, Ga. (KYMA) - The Los Angeles Rams comeback effort wasn't enough in a 27-24 loss against the Atlanta Falcons on 'Monday Night Football' at Mercedes-Benz Stadium.

The Rams couldn't generate any offense, being blanked in the first half, going down as much as 21 points, backed by a monster 195 rushing yard performance from Bijan Robinson, but Los Angeles would slowly mount a comeback in the second half.

The Rams finally found the end zone on a 27-yard touchdown pass to Terrance Ferguson late in the fourth quarter, and then Jarred Verse blocked and returned a field goal for a touchdown for the first time since 1986 to give L.A. some life and cut Atlanta's lead to 24-17.

After some back-and-forth drives, the Rams were able to tie it up on a quick screen to Puka Nacua, but it wouldn't be enough.

Falcons kicker Zane Gonzalez, a former Sun Devil, would drill a 51 yarder with 21 seconds to secure the 27-24 win.

With the loss, the Rams will likely secure the sixth seed in the NFC. If the season were to end today, they would have a rematch from last years Wildcard round with the Eagles.
