Dodgers take Game 1 of NLCS in Milwaukee

Los Angeles survives a late collapse to win 2-1 thriller

MILWAUKEE (KYMA) - The Los Angeles Dodgers hung on to a late lead to beat the Brewers in Game 1 of the National League Championship Series in Milwaukee on Monday night.

Blake Snell was nails on the mound, pitching eight shutout innings, allowing one hit and striking out 10 batters, but the wheels almost fell off for the Dodgers late in the game.

Even with a Freddie Freeman solo shot and a bases-loaded walk driving in a run, the Brewers were in striking distance in the bottom of the ninth.

With runners on second and third, Jackson Chourio hit a sacrifice fly to drive in a run, cutting Los Angeles' lead to one.

A couple of batters later, Brice Turang stepped up to the dish with bases loaded. On a pitch in the zone, he jumped out of the way, where if he decided to get hit, would've driven in the game tying run. Instead he fanned on high cheese and struck out moments after.

Milwaukee would leave the bases loaded and the Dodgers would escape with a win. For Snell, this wasn't his first lights-out performance. He has allowed only six hits through 21 innings of the MLB Post Season.

Game 2 starts Tuesday at 5:08 p.m. in Milwaukee.
