Freeman lifts Dodgers to 1-0 win, seals series in Texas
ARLINGTON, Texas, (KYMA, KECY) - The Dodgers wrapped up a low-scoring series with a 1-0 win over the Rangers on Sunday, taking two of three games in Arlington behind strong pitching and a timely sacrifice fly.
Freddie Freeman drove in the only run of the game in the eighth inning after Will Smith led off with a pinch-hit single. Freeman's sac fly was just enough to edge out Texas in a weekend dominated by pitching.
Dodgers starter Tyler Glasnow exited after four innings due to lower leg cramps, but the bullpen carried the load from there, throwing five scoreless innings, allowing just two hits and striking out five.
The Dodgers managed only two hits off Rangers starter Tyler Mahle, who shut them out for seven innings. Teoscar Hernández had the last of those with a double in the fourth.
The Dodgers have now logged three shutouts this season, two of them in this series, and improved to 6–2 in one-run games. They'll return to Dodger Stadium with momentum as they prepare to host the Pirates.
