Diamondbacks’ Corbin Carroll voted in as first rookie starter in MLB All-Star game since 2017
Carroll named as starting outfielder for National League team in Seattle on July 11th
PHOENIX, Ariz., (KYMA, KECY) - The votes are in and the rookie is headed home.
Thanks to all of the baseball fans across America, Arizona Diamondbacks rookie, Corbin Carroll, has been named as a starter for the National League in the 2023 All-Star game taking place in his hometown of Seattle on July 11th.
The All-Star starters were announced Thursday evening.
With the vote, Carroll becomes just the 24th rookie in MLB history to be named a starter and the first rookie starter since Aaron Judge in 2017.
He also becomes just the eighth All-Star starter in D'backs franchise history with the last being awarded to Ketel Marte in 2019.
Carroll has lit up the stat sheet in his first full season - hitting .292 with 17 home runs, 44 RBIs and stealing 24 bags across 78 games for the NL West leading D'backs.
