Yuma native Jose Delgado gets main event opportunity at UFC Noche

YUMA, Ariz. (KYMA) - Yuma native Jose Delgado will have one of the biggest opportunities of his mixed martial arts career this weekend.

Delgado is set to face Jean Silva in the main event of UFC Noche on Saturday at Desert Diamond Arena in Glendale.

The 28-year-old featherweight enters the fight with a 12-2 professional record and a 4-1 mark in the UFC.

Delgado was added to the main event after Yair Rodriguez withdrew from his scheduled bout against Silva.

The change gives Delgado his first UFC main event and a chance to compete in front of a home-state crowd.

The matchup also presents a significant opportunity for Delgado in the UFC featherweight division.

Silva enters the fight ranked No. 6 in the division, while Delgado is ranked No. 15, meaning a victory could provide the Yuma native with a major boost in the rankings.

Delgado has won four of his five UFC appearances and enters Saturday's matchup following victories over Andre Fili and Austin Bashi earlier this year.

Now, the Yuma native faces the biggest test of his UFC career with a chance to make an even bigger name for himself on one of the sport's largest stages.
