San Luis ace Luis Cunningham signs with Mesa Community College

The senior Sidewinder led San Luis with a 0.93 ERA, RBIs, batting average and hits

SAN LUIS, Ariz. (KYMA) - San Luis standout Luis Cunningham is taking his baseball career to the next level after signing with Mesa Community College.

Cunningham capped off an impressive senior season as the Sidewinders’ ace on the mound while also leading the team offensively. The right-hander posted a 0.93 ERA and delivered a memorable performance during the season when he threw a no-hitter against Kofa in a playoff game despite losing.

At the plate, Cunningham led San Luis in batting average, hits and RBIs, cementing himself as one of the top all-around players in the region.

His dominant season earned him Desert Southwest Region Player of the Year honors along with second-team All-State recognition in Arizona’s 6A Conference.

Cunningham was also selected to represent the region in the conference all-star game in Goodyear.

The future Thunderbird plans to spend two seasons at Mesa Community College before transferring to a university, where he hopes to continue his baseball career while studying software engineering.
