Raiders send six athletes to collegiate level

Joined by friends, family and coaches, Cibola athletes signed to play sports at the next level

YUMA, Ariz. (KYMA) - Six Cibola Raiders student-athletes took the next step in their athletic careers Wednesday afternoon during Cibola High School’s signing day ceremony.

Rodrigo Orozco, Angelina Moreno, Danya Roman, Karrington Jacobs, Sheyla Montano and Cameron Kasid all signed to continue their academic and athletic careers at the collegiate level.

For Roman, the day carried even more meaning because she will continue playing soccer alongside one of her longtime teammates at Cochise College.

“It’s super exciting,” Roman said. “We were together throughout middle school, and now we came through high school together and then we were captains. We did everything together.”

Roman said continuing that journey at the collegiate level makes the opportunity even more special.

“We both found out we were going to college, so now we’re gonna be roomies and then also continue playing soccer,” Roman said. “I’m super excited for a new chapter of my life.”

The signing ceremony celebrated the accomplishments of all six athletes as they prepare to take their talents across the country and continue competing at the next level.
