These teams have to win one more game to play for a championship, find out who’s got a shot

13 teams are still alive and have to win one more game to make it to the championship

YUMA, Ariz. (KYMA) - While many teams across the Desert Southwest have seen their seasons come to an end, 13 programs remain in contention for CIF and Arizona state championships as playoff action reaches its final rounds.

In CIF-San Diego Section girls basketball, Central High School will travel to face top-seeded La Costa Canyon in the Division II semifinals, with a berth in Friday's championship game on the line.

In Division V, Southwest High School will take on San Pasqual, with the winner advancing to Thursday's title game at Otay Ranch High School.

In Division V-AA, Calipatria High School is set to face No. 1-seeded Liberty Charter, with the championship scheduled for Thursday.

Meanwhile, top-seeded Imperial High School will host Torrey Pines in the Division I semifinals Wednesday. A win would send the Tigers to Saturday's championship game at Frontwave Arena in Oceanside.

In boys basketball, Calexico High School will host Ramona in the Division III semifinals. The Bulldogs would advance to Friday's CIF championship game with a victory.

Girls soccer also features several local teams in semifinal matchups. Brawley Union High School and Imperial will meet with a Division IV championship berth at stake.

In Division V, Holtville High School will travel to face Preuss, with the title game scheduled Thursday in El Cajon if Holtville advances. Vincent Memorial Catholic High School will face Calvin Christian in another semifinal, with the winner advancing to Thursday’s championship match.

In boys soccer, Central will host Otay Ranch while looking to remain undefeated and move one step closer to a second consecutive CIF title.

Calexico will also host a semifinal, facing Point Loma with a championship berth on the line. Both potential title matches are scheduled for Saturday.

In Arizona, San Luis High School will host Pinnacle in the 6A state semifinals. A win would send the Sidewinders to the state championship game for the third time in four years.

Finally, Yuma Catholic High School will compete against Page in the Arizona 3A girls basketball semifinals Friday at Veterans Memorial Coliseum in Phoenix. A victory would put Yuma Catholic in the state championship game the following day.

With championship berths on the line across multiple sports, teams from the Desert Southwest remain firmly in the hunt as the postseason enters its decisive week.
