Holtville rolls Health Sciences, San Pasqual struggles against Joseph City

The Vikings advance to the first round of the CIF-SDS Division V bracket while the Warriors fall in the first round of the AIA 1A State Championship Bracket

YUMA, Ariz. (KYMA) - The postseason came to an end for the San Pasqual girls basketball team after a lopsided loss in the first round of the AIA 1A State Playoffs against Joseph City.

The Wildcats overwhelmed the Warriors 58-15, controlling the game from the opening tip. San Pasqual struggled to generate offense throughout the contest, scoring all 15 of its points from beyond the 3-point line. Despite the defeat, the Warriors capped off a fantastic 17-10 season.

In boys action, Holtville kept its postseason hopes alive with a dominant 69-35 victory over Health Sciences.

The Vikings controlled the tempo on both ends of the floor and used a balanced scoring attack to secure their spot in the CIF-SDS Division V Championship Bracket.

Adrien Valdovinos led Holtville with 17 points and six rebounds, while Isaiah Banuelos orchestrated the offense with 13 assists. Luke Chambers added 12 points to help the Vikings pull away.

Coach Moreno and the Vikings now turn their focus to Palo Verde, a team they are 0-3 against this season. The teams are set to meet Tuesday, with a trip to the quarterfinals on the line.
