Antelope basketball sweeps Maryvale Prep on Senior Night

WELLTON, Ariz. (KYMA, KECY) - The Antelope basketball programs capped off Senior Night with a sweep of Maryvale Prep, as the Rams earned a 62–45 win in the boys game and the Lady Rams followed with a 38–24 victory to close out the doubleheader.

In the nightcap, the Antelope boys entered at 7–4 on the season, facing a Maryvale Prep team that came in at 2–7 but showed early fight. The Matadors led for much of the first quarter behind senior point guard Korben Myers. But, Antelope answered quickly, as Ozzie Martin helped spark a run and helped Antelope regain a lead.

The game stayed tight into the second quarter, but Antelope began to pull away midway through the quarter. The Rams closed strong before the break, highlighted by Martin finding Seth Holiday for a tough finish as Antelope took an eight-point lead into halftime.

Antelope took control in the second half, using balanced scoring and defensive pressure to shut down any comeback attempt and cruise to a 62–45 Senior Night victory. The Rams now head out on the road for three straight games before postseason play begins, including a matchup against Mayer coming up tomorrow.

Earlier in the evening, the Lady Rams continued their turnaround season with a 38–24 win over Maryvale Prep. After going winless a year ago, Antelope entered the night with two victories, hosting a Matadors squad still searching for its first win at 0–10.

Maryvale Prep made a late push in the fourth quarter behind Arielle Cortez Gonzalez, cutting the lead to eight, but Antelope responded with a timely three from Mariana Bautista to restore a double-digit advantage. Aniya St. Clair added another three late to seal the win as the Lady Rams secured their third victory of the season.
