Shamrocks get back in win column with 3-1 victory over Wildcats
Yuma Catholic snapped a two game skid while Brawley lost their first in seven games
YUMA, Ariz. (KYMA) - The Yuma Catholic Shamrocks defeated the Brawley Wildcats 3-1 in an I-8 battle at Ricky Gwynn Stadium on Wednesday night.
All the goals were scored in the first half of play, leading to a defensive frame after the break.
Brawley was able to generate pressure during the second half, but Yuma Catholic's Taylor Wallace did an excellent job in net keeping the ball out of harms way.
After the game, junior defender Chloe Dammeyer expressed how excited she is to see what this team is capable of.
"I'm glad because we played really good, not just the win, but we also showed what we can do as a team and it really shows like the first steps we can take and we only get better from here," Dammeyer said. "I'm really happy with the results from today."
She added how it was so much sweeter to win in front of a home crowd too.
"It feels really great, especially because we're home, so we got to show our family and friends like a good win," Dammeyer said.
The Shamrocks next contest is a region matchup at Tonopah Thursday at 4 p.m.
