Shamrocks dominate Criminals 68-33
YUMA, Ariz. (KYMA, KECY) - Yuma Catholic controlled the pace from start to finish Thursday night, rolling past cross-town rival Yuma High 68–33 in the opening round of the Battle on the Border, hosted by Yuma Catholic.
The Shamrocks set the tone early with strong defensive pressure and balanced scoring, building a commanding lead by halftime and never looking back. Yuma Catholic consistently pushed the tempo, forcing turnovers and converting them into easy transition points.
Darwin Welsh led the way with 15 points, showcasing his ability to score at multiple levels. Noe Zamudio followed with 14 points, while Adrian Porchas added 10, giving the Shamrocks three players in double figures.
Defensively, Yuma Catholic limited Yuma’s scoring opportunities throughout the night, holding the Criminals to just 33 points and preventing any sustained offensive runs.
With the win, Yuma Catholic advances in tournament play and will continue action at the Battle on the Border on January 3, with its next opponent to be determined. Yuma will look to regroup as the tournament continues.
