Central, Imperial pick up key wins in San Diego County Cup action

SAN DIEGO, (KYMA-KECY) - Local high school soccer teams had a strong showing Monday in the San Diego County Cup.

Central continued its unbeaten run in tournament play with a convincing 3-0 victory over Otay Ranch at Otay Ranch High School. Central controlled possession throughout the match and never allowed Otay Ranch to find a rhythm offensively. The shutout win keeps Central perfect on the season and moves the team forward in the County Cup bracket.

At Imperial High School, the Imperial Tigers earned a narrow 1-0 win over Brawley in another County Cup matchup. The match remained scoreless through the first half before Imperial broke through in the second. Senior goalkeeper Lucas Mora played a crucial role in the victory, stopping all 10 shots he faced to secure the shutout. With the win, Imperial improves to 9-4-1 on the season, while Brawley drops to 6-5-3.
