Gila Ridge girls volleyball give back to Yuma community at Bridget’s Gift takeover
YUMA, Ariz. (KYMA) - The Gila Ridge Lady Hawks are finishing a strong volleyball season and are on the verge of a postseason berth, but Wednesday night, it wasn't about points or wins.
The team turned their focus to giving back, supporting one of Yuma's most beloved charities, Bridget’s Gift, during the Pink Takeover event at Wheezy's.
Junior Riely Beck says supporting the cause isn't just about helping others, it's also a meaningful team experience.
"We love coming to these things like this. Supporting Bridget's Gift is not only bringing the team together, but we're also helping our community. That's honestly what means the most to us," she said.
Freshman Kinley Tardy added that seeing the community come together made the experience even more special.
"I was here since the beginning, and seeing all the people who want to help...it's really, really cool. Some of them shared stories about family members they've lost, and it was just a really cool experience," Tardy said.
From early morning through the evening, the Lady Hawks were out raising money, connecting with attendees, and showing that the values they bring to the court teamwork, dedication, heart also extend to their community.
Wednesday night was a reminder that the most important victories aren't always measured in points, but in the difference you make in the lives of others.
