Gila Ridge falls to Shadow Ridge in battle of the Ridges during jersey reveal

The Hawks put up a fight, but were ultimately swept by the stallions in three sets

YUMA, Ariz. (KYMA) - The Gila Ridge Hawks fell to the 13 ranked Shadow Ridge Stallions in straight sets on Wednesday night in the Hawks Nest.

Despite the loss, the Hawks unveiled their new jerseys to show their support for Breast Cancer Awareness, featuring hot-pink text and numbers over a black base.

Sophomore setter Adriana Garcia had the opportunity to choose the design of the special edition jerseys.

"They gave me a couple options to choose from, and I think these look the best. They're simple, they're cute and they make us look really feminine," Garcia said.

Head Coach Maris Grasis stresses giving back to the community, which is part of the reason the jerseys were created.

For Garcia, she was totally on board for showing her support.

"I had family members that are survivors from it, but I'm pretty sure everyone has a back story and it's a meaningful way for all of them," Garcia said.

Gila Ridge will start region play next Tuesday against Kofa where they hope to get back in the win column and make a final push for the state tournament.
