Aguilas de Mexicali to play exhibition match at Calexico
Aguilas de Mexicali will open their season up at Calexico High School for an exhibition game to raise money for the Bulldogs and Breast Cancer Awareness
CALEXICO, Calif. (KYMA) - Calexico High School and Aguilas de Mexicali, a professional baseball team based out of Mexicali, Mexico, are partnering to raise money for Bulldog baseball and Breast Cancer Awareness.
The two parties are partnering together to bring a special event to Calexico High School next month on October 10.
The Aguilas will make the trip from Mexicali to play a game against other local professional athletes in the Calexico area.
Head coach of Bulldog Baseball, Luis Briseno, said there are many reasons for the event. In addition to raising money for the team and Breast Cancer Awareness, he also wants to show off the talent in the area and give back to the community.
"I do this for the kids, because I was once them. I came here, I'm an alumni for Calexico, and I mean, obviously as a kid, I mean as a high school player, I would want this too," Briseno said.
To make the event, all hands are on deck.
"Our school's helping, our athletic director our principal," Briseno said. "They're really helpful with all the support."
The event is going to be full of amazing baseball with food and drinks available for purchase. If you are in the Calexico area, make sure to check out the event and raise money for a good cause.
