Despite being a three-year-old program, Shamrock swim is not shying away from the high expectations they set
YUMA, Ariz. (KYMA) - Yuma Catholic High School is amidst just their third season as a swim program, and based on their expectations, you'd think the Shamrocks program has been around for decades.
Second year Head Coach Brock Amon understood the assingment upon getting hired, and is taking the role head on.
"When I took the job, basically they said, 'Hey, look, we don't want just swimmers, we want people competing at state,'" Amon said. "That really is the expectation for our team and all our swimmers is to reach that pinnacle."
Junior swimmer Sadie Reyes, who has only swam three years, but is excelling, clearly laid out the teams goals.
"We're going state, 100%," Reyes said. "We're gonna try to get at least on the podium for the relay, and for all of the relays that we're doing, and that's about it. We're gonna get first in regionals 100%"
Yuma Catholic swim had a four way meet yesterday with Phoenix Country Day, Veritas Prep and Valley Christian where they emerged victorious.
This weekend, the Rocks will swim at an invitational in Tucson as they look to continue with their winning ways.
