Eagles soar into CIF Championship for first time since 2018

Southwest softball knocks off top seed Canyon Hills 4-0, sets stage for final on UCSD campus

SAN DIEGO (KYMA, KECY) - For the first time since 2018, the Southwest Eagles softball team is advancing to the CIF San Diego Section Division III Championship game. That was also the last time the Eagles won a CIF title.

The Eagles worked their way through the bracket unscathed by knocking off Tri-City Christian 7-1 in their first game followed by a 6-1 win over top seeded Canyon Hills last Friday and then knocking out the Rattlers on Wednesday 4-0.

Throughout the DIII bracket, the Eagles have outscored their opponents 17-1.

Southwest will next face Olympian, a team they lost to earlier this season 6-1, May 10, on the road.

Game time is scheduled for 4:00 p.m. this Saturday from Triton Softball Field on the UCSD campus.
