Yuma Catholic Girls Tennis makes State Championship Appearance

Lady Shamrocks make historic run to Tennis State Championship

YUMA, Ariz. (KYMA, KECY) - The Yuma Catholic Lady Shamrocks girls tennis team capped off a remarkable season by reaching the Arizona Interscholastic Association (AIA) Division III State Championship Final, a feat the program hasn't accomplished in several years.

The Shamrocks defeated Thatcher 5-3 in the quarterfinals, then followed up with a 5-2 win over Northland Preparatory Academy in the semifinals to punch their ticket to the state title match.

Despite giving it everything they had, Yuma Catholic fell 2-5 to Pusch Ridge in the final. One Lady Shamrocks player was sidelined due to illness, but the team pushed through with heart and determination.

This year's run marks a major milestone for Yuma Catholic, showcasing the growth of the program and the leadership of Coach Sandoval.
