Brawley’s Favela signs with Southern Oregon

A Brawley wrestler signs to continue her career at Southern Oregon.

BRAWLEY, Calif. (KYMA, KECY) - Brawley's Jennifer Favela signed her letter of intent to continue her academic and wrestling career at Southern Oregon University.

SOU is an NAIA school in Ashland, Oregon and Favela believes it is the perfect place for her future.

"It was actually the only [school] I visited and I just really fell in love with it," Favela said. "I love the team, the coaches, and Ashland itself. It's so pretty."

Favela comes from a wrestling family. She originally got the urge to try wrestling from watching her older brothers out on the mat.

"My eldest brother, Alex, is the one that started wrestling and we all just kind of followed him," she said. "I also saw [my other brothr] when would wrestle and I'd be like, 'hey, I wanna beat up people too.'"

Favela plans to study education when she gets to SOU.
