Cibola baseball keeps playoff hopes alive with win over Gila Ridge

Cibola takes down local rivals Gila Ridge and keeps their chances of sneaking into the playoffs alive.

YUMA, Ariz. (KYMA, KECY) - Rodrigo Orozco Araiza had three hits and scored two runs to lead the Cibola Raiders to a 7-1 victory over the Gila Ridge Hawks on Tuesday.

No. 31 Cibola moves to 6-6. No. 40 Gila Ridge falls to 2-10.

Gila Ridge took the lead in the first inning, scoring their only run of the ball game. Cibola would then go on to score a run in every inning, including two in the sixth to take the game handedly 7-1.

For Cibola, Isaac Lopez pitched all seven innings, giving up one run and striking out five.

Araiza went 3 for 4, scoring the two runs.

For Gila Ridge, Raul Vera tossed four innings, giving up two earned runs with three strike outs.

Cibola plays on the road tomorrow against Westwood. Gila Ridge will also be on the road against Youngker.
