Three Central Spartans are headed to San Diego to play football at Southwestern College.

EL CENTRO, Calif. (KYMA, KECY) - Central's Alex Trejo, Xander Sandoval, and Davion Hartfield each signed to play football at Southwestern College. The trio signed inside Spartan Arena and it marked a major step forward in their lives.

"I always remember coming to Central when I was younger," Sandoval said. "To have the whole school celebrate me and my teammates, it feels really good because you know Central it's a special place."

"It means bigger opportunities for me to go out and become a better athlete and a man," Trejo said.

Southwestern is located in San Diego and offers these Spartans the opportunity to stay close to home and grow together on and off the field.

"It makes it 10 times better having family out there," Hartfield said. "My teammates are like my family. We already know we're gonna push each other to the max."

"I'm hoping to live with them too, so it becomes easier," Trejo said. "We already have chemistry through middle school and high school. I'll be living with two of my best friends."

The trio is thrilled represent no just their new school at the next level, but also the Imperial Valley as a whole.

"I really want to go to a university [after]," Hartfield said. "I want to put on for the Valley. We're signing for the Valley and representing the Valley."
