Cibola softball shut out by Highland

Cibola softball struggles at the plate in a home loss to Highland.

YUMA, Ariz. (KYMA, KECY) - Abbie Shellabarger drove in four runs to lead the Highland Hawks to a 9-0 victory over the Cibola Lady Raiders on Friday.

Highland moves to 1-1. Cibola falls to 2-2.

After a couple of defensive miscues from Cibola, Highland took a one run lead in the first inning. The Hawks continued to score in each inning, including three in the fourth. Cibola struggled to string together hits leaving nine base runners on base. The Hawks out hit the Lady Raiders 16 to six and would complete the 9-0 shutout.

For Cibola, Cameron Kasid went 2 for 4.

Jizelle Robles went 1 for 3 with a double.

Alessandra Martinez pitched 7.0 innings, striking out five and giving up the nine runs.

For Highland, Shellabarger went 3 for 4 with the four RBIs.

Easton Joslin went 4 for 4.

Kennedie Nelson pitched 5.1 innings, striking out five.

On Monday, Cibola will host San Luis.
