Kofa baseball falls below .500 after loss to Liberty

Kofa falls to Liberty at home on a windy day at Dean Stout Ballpark.

YUMA, Ariz. (KYMA, KECY) - The Liberty Lions defeated the Kofa Kings 11-6 at Dean Stout Ballpark on Thursday.

Liberty moves to 5-0. Kofa falls to 2-3.

Kofa took a 3-0 lead in the first inning. In the second inning, Kofa had an opportunity to get out of the inning without giving up a run, but a costly error allowed Liberty to score and extend the inning.

The Lions would score six total runs in the second to take a 6-3 lead. The Lions would then run away with the 11-6 victory to remain undefeated.

For Kofa, Julio Reina went 2 for 4 with an RBI.

Esteban Hernandez started the game pitched 3.1 innings giving up 9 runs.

The Kings are right back on the diamond Friday to face Canyon View.
