Tigers host Imperial Classic boys basketball tournament

IMPERIAL, Calif., (KYMA, KECY) - From near and far, several boys hoops teams traveled to Imperial last this week and into the weekend for an early season tournament.

On Friday, Calipatria led off the day with a big win over Holtvile 55-27 to earn their sixth win of the year.

Brawley followed up in the second game of the day with a defensive shutdown kind of game, holding the Southwest Eagles to just nine points in the 49-9 win.

Imperial then hosted Valhalla out of El Cajon in the third slot. After a back and forth first quarter, it was the Norseman from Valhalla that pulled away in the end.

Imperial falls to (3-2) on the year despite an astounding 39 points, two blocks and four steals from David Scariano, followed by freshman Giovani Robles with 21 points.

Valhalla was led by 30 points from Zaki Monquad.

In the final game of the night, the Calexico Bulldogs would take on Shadow Hills. That final score has yet to be reported.
