Shamrocks stay undefeated at home
Yuma Catholic wins fourth match in a row and San Luis continues their winning ways
YUMA, Ariz. ( KYMA, KECY-TV ) - After a successful weekend tournament where the Yuma Catholic volleyball team placed third at the Mary Jo Goldey tournament in Lake Havasu, the Shamrocks continue to play good volleyball to start the new week.
The Shamrocks started the week with a win in four sets at Imperial on Tuesday night, 12-25, 25-19, 25-16 and 25-23. The Shamrocks were led by Rian Martinez who finished with 17 kills and six aces. Reese Sellers added 11 kills and Payton Pikula finished with 26 assists.
On Wednesday night, the Shamrocks were back at home against Tonopah Valley and defeated the Phoenix in straight sets 26-24, 25-17 and 25-17. Rian Martinez had 13 kills and two aces, Eva Garcia added seven kills and two blocks. Reese Sellers finished with five kills, two aces and 10 digs.
The win improved Yuma Catholic to 4-1 on the season and also extended their winning streak to four matches in a row. The Shamrocks are also 3-0 at home this season.
To the south of Yuma County, the San Luis Sidewinders volleyball team continued their winning ways with a four set victory over Trevor G. Browne 25-18, 22-25, 25-12 and 25-11. The win is the fifth in the last six matches for the Sidewinders who are now 5-3 on the season. Adeliz Bojorquez finished with six aces, Kritshna Rodriguez had two blocks and Alessandra Sanchez added two kills.
The Sidewinders will next host Imperial on Monday, September 19th.
