Wildcats continue strong season
The Brawley softball team earned win 11 on the season behind another strong outing from junior Dylan Baker
BRAWLEY, Calif. ( KYMA, KECY-TV ) - On Saturday afternoon, the Brawley softball team jumped out to a 2-0 first inning lead and never looked back in defeating Clairemont 13-1. The win was the 11th on the season for the Wildcats who improved to 11-4. Junior Dylan Baker tossed a complete game while only allowing one run on four hits.
The Wildcats will head to a tournament in Las Vegas near the end of next week before starting IVL play on April 27th at home against Holtville.
"We've had a pretty good run so far," Head coach Kevin Kerns said. "We had a big crunch of tournaments the first few weeks and then we had some time off with only one game a week so that kind of slowed us down."
Kerns says he's happy with the way his team is playing ahead of Imperial Valley League play.
"Well, we did lose four big pieces last year but we've added just the same," Kerns said. "We're still learning, getting better everyday, I'm confident we'll be okay but it all starts in the circle and as long as dylan pitches well which I have no doubt she will, we should be okay."
