Matadors’ athletics continue fall-season dominance

YUMA, Ariz. (KYMA) - Arizona Western's fall athletic programs continue to earn national recognition as strong performances across women's soccer, men's soccer, and volleyball have translated into impressive positions in the latest NJCAA rankings.

For the first time in program history, the Arizona Western women's soccer team sits atop the NJCAA Division I Women’s Soccer Poll as the No. 1 team in the nation.

The Lady Matadors received all eight first-place votes and totaled 120 points in this week’s rankings.

Arizona Western remains undefeated on the season after playing Cochise College to a draw over the weekend, helping solidify its position as the nation’s top-ranked team.

On the men's side, the Matadors climbed three spots to No. 7 in the latest poll. Arizona Western also holds the distinction of being the highest-ranked team in Region I, carrying a 7-1-1 record into the next stretch of the season.

The Arizona Western volleyball team also continues to strengthen its national reputation. The Matadors improved one spot to No. 17 in this week's rankings after opening the season with a perfect 14-0 record.

With all three programs ranked nationally and continuing to post strong results, Arizona Western remains one of the most successful junior college athletic departments in the country this fall.
