Arizona Western’s three fall teams continue strong starts

YUMA, Ariz. (KYMA) - Arizona Western College's volleyball, men's soccer and women's soccer teams continued their strong starts to the season Wednesday, with all three programs entering the day ranked in the NJCAA top 20.

The Matador men's soccer team, ranked No. 10 in the NJCAA Division I poll, faced one of its toughest road tests of the season against No. 9 Mohave Community College.

Arizona Western handled the challenge, cruising to a 4-1 victory over the Bighorns.

The second-ranked AWC women's soccer team followed with another dominant performance against Mohave, earning a 4-0 victory.

The Lady Mats remain undefeated at 6-0 and are yet to surrender a goal this season. Arizona Western has recorded six consecutive shutouts to open the year.

The volleyball team has also continued its unbeaten start.

Arizona Western is 12-0, marking one of the program's strongest starts in recent years while maintaining the No. 18 spot in the NJCAA rankings.

The Lady Mats' 12-0 start has also earned them their highest national ranking since November 2024.
