Three Lady Mats selected to NJCAA All-American Honors list

Linka Ono, Iyan Hernandez and Asa Yamazaki make list

YUMA, Ariz. (KYMA) - Three Arizona Western Matador Women's Soccer players were selected to the NJCAA All-American Honors list.

Linka Ono was selected to the Division I All-America first team after netting four goals — including two game-winners — and nine assists en route to a return to the national championship.

The sophomore midfielder has since taken her talents to LSU, where she will continue her soccer career.

Goalkeeper Iyan Hernandez was also named an All-American, earning a spot on the second team. The Mexico native made 39 saves to just four goals allowed, anchoring the Matadors' exceptional defense.

Sophomore midfielder Asa Yamazaki earned All-America third-team honors, finishing her second season with eight goals and seven assists.
