Matadors’ Linka Ono signs with LSU Women’s Soccer

The star midfielder is taking her talents to Baton Rouge after a phenomenal season at Arizona Western College

YUMA, Ariz. (KYMA) - Arizona Western Matadors midfielder Linka Ono is taking her talents to the Louisiana State University Tigers after signing a Letter of Intent Tuesday afternoon.

Matadors Head Coach Victor Verdugo had high praise for her signing.

"For Arizona Western women's soccer, this is the biggest signing we've had," Verdugo said. "It represents the direction the program's going in, the quality of the players that we have and I mean, I'm just ecstatic and excited for Linka."

For Linka, it was her dream to attend LSU. While parting with her AWC family will be difficult, she is excited for the new family she will have as a Tiger.

"When I visited LSU, everyone was like, I'm gonna say it's the same one, like family like sisters, and here like we are different countries but I think we're really, like sisters. That's what I think is a similar part with LSU and the AWC," Ono said.

While here Matadors journey is coming to an end without a championship, her quest for a title at LSU is just beginning.
