Matadors dominate with 14-0 victory over Community Christian
YUMA, Ariz. (KYMA) -Â The number eight ranked Arizona Western College men's soccer left no doubt on Tuesday, cruising to a 14-0 victory over Community Christian College at Matador Soccer Field.
The Matadors scored seven goals in each half, with forward Enzo Manga leading the charge with a hat trick. Noah Naus added two early goals, while Taikan Naito tallied a pair and set up two more. In all, 10 different Matadors factored into the scoring sheet, underscoring the team’s attacking depth.
Despite the lopsided scoreline, head coach Kenny Dale said the team is still focused on improvement.
"Tonight was a great night obviously, but we’re still trying to make everything perfect," Dale said. "Tactical adjustments need to be made. We’re trying to improve the diversity in our attack and play more efficiently."
The defense, which limited Community Christian to just one shot, has been a point of pride.
"We've been very solid at the back with the exception of a couple of stumbles early in the year," Dale added. "My biggest priority is clean sheets. You're not going to score 14 goals every game, so in those tight matches, defense wins championships."
Beyond the pitch, Dale emphasized how the squad is building chemistry.
"They're coming together in the dorms, in the cafeteria, in the classes, and on the buses," he said. "We have players from all over the world, so it's always exciting. Whether you're from Yuma, Phoenix, or France, everybody gets to make new friends."
Now 8-1-0 on the season, the Matadors are hitting their stride heading into October. Dale said his players are eager for the challenges still ahead.
