Matadors women’s soccer continues dominant start to the regular season

YUMA, Ariz. (KYMA, KECY) - The Arizona Western women's soccer team overcame the Northern Idaho Cardinals en route to a 6-0 win on Saturday evening.

The win follows a 14-0 victory against Imperial Valley College on Friday night.

The dominance was evident from the beginning of the game as the Matadors spent almost all of the first 15 minutes on the attacking side of the field.

After several shots on goal, Asa Yamakazi gathered a pass directly in front of the net from Momo Chogyogi, avoided a defender and tapped the ball in to break the scoring.

The Matadors kept harping on the Cardinals until the game was quickly out of reach, coming away with the win.

Other goal scorers included Kanon Ozaki with two, Momo Chogyogi, Karen Sodeyama and Reina Kasano.

Arizona Western moves to 2-0 on the season and can now focus on their next opponent in a week's time: Snow College.
