NCAA seeks dismissal of Title IX lawsuit
(CNN, KYMA/KECY) - Ivy League schools and the NCAA have moved on to dismiss a lawsuit on transgender athletes.
Three former University of Pennsylvania women filed the suit in February.
They say they were denied equal opportunity to compete because of their teammate Lia Thomas.
She swam for Penn's male team before transitioning and joining the women's team.
Thomas went on to win first place in medals in the Ivy League Women's championship.
They say that Harvard did not provide Thomas a unisex locker room or an alternative room for women who did not share one with her.
The university says it's not liable because it was only following NCAA guidelines at the time.
It's already banned athletes assigned that male from birth from competing on women's teams after after President Donald Trump signed an executive order forbidding it back in January.
