Yaxel Lendeborg, former AWC star, commits to Michigan
ANN ARBOR, Mich. (KYMA, KECY) - Yaxel Lendeborg, the No. 1-ranked player in the college basketball transfer portal, has officially committed to Michigan, marking a new chapter in his career that traces back to his time at Arizona Western College (AWC) in Yuma.
Lendeborg, a 6-foot-9, 230-pound forward, played his first two years of college basketball at AWC, where he made an immediate impact.
His outstanding performances at the junior college level led to a transfer to the University of Alabama at Birmingham (UAB), where he quickly became one of the top players in the nation.
This past season at UAB, Lendeborg averaged 17.7 points, 11.4 rebounds, 4.2 assists, 1.7 steals, and 1.8 blocks per game, with an impressive 52.2% shooting from the field and 35.7% from three.
Lendeborg's growth on the court at UAB included a standout 30-point, 20-rebound, 8-assist game in the AAC Tournament, further solidifying his reputation as one of the top talents in the transfer portal.
His versatility, playing both the small-ball 5 and the 4, has made him a highly coveted asset for programs like Michigan, where he will now join an already strong roster.
In addition to his commitment to Michigan, Lendeborg is pursuing the NBA draft process, aiming for a guaranteed contract.
With two years of eligibility left, he has the opportunity to continue his development in one of the nation’s top basketball programs, competing in the highly competitive Big Ten Conference.
