NASCAR driver Bubba Wallace kneels in honor of Kyle Busch

CONCORD, N.C. (CBS, KYMA) - NASCAR driver Bubba Wallace was seen honoring fellow driver Kyle Busch during the Coca-Cola 600 at Charlotte Motor Speedway Saturday.

Busch, 41, died Thursday after severe pneumonia progressed into sepsis, according to The Associated Press, citing representatives from his team.

Track crews painted a No. 8 sign on the infield at Charlotte Motor Speedway in his honor. Busch had driven the No. 8 Chevrolet for Richard Childress Racing since 2023.

Footage filmed by Devin Kupka shows Wallace kneeling over the No. 8 mural.

In an Instagram tribute, Wallace called Busch a "monumental factor" in his career.

"I sit here and look at all things around me and all the things I've been able to accomplish, Kyle played a role in every aspect," Wallace wrote. "That's what hurts the most. An icon and a legend that I looked up to is no longer with us."
