San Diego FC takes home the victory in its first ever postseason match

SAN DIEGO (KYMA) - In the first playoff match in franchise history, San Diego FC (SDFC) came out with a victory over the Portland Timbers by a 2-1 score.

SDFC was in control the whole way through. In the 23rd minute of action, Onni Valakari found the back of the net to put his team up 1-0. Seven minutes later Anders Dreyer did the same, giving San Diego some breathing room.

The Timbers kept the first-half action rolling with a goal from Kristoffer Velde in the 36th minute, but that was all they would do on the scoreboard for the remainder of the game.

SDFC outshot Portland 14-5 and dominated possession of the ball.

The two teams will play each other again on November 1.
