Yuma High inducts Hall of Fame Class of 2025
YUMA, Ariz. (KYMA,) - The Yuma Criminals have added six new members to their Hall of Fame.
This year's class includes former football coaches Al Alvarez (1965-74) and Tom Hurt (1988-1992), former swim and dive coach Deedee Baumgarner (1985-2010), athletes Yolanda Biebrich (1982) and Jerry Gaillard (1978), as well as the 1941-42 girls tennis team.
For the first time, the school also recognized four community partners for their contributions. The honorees were ALSCO, the 4th Ave Gym Athletic Foundation, Lutes Casino, and Mr. G Drive-In.
Hurt reflected on the recognition by saying, "Well, it's the oldest school in Yuma, and one of the oldest in Arizona, so it's a great honor to be in this. This is a great community event."
The new additions join the Hall of Fame that already included 142 individuals, one group, and 11 teams, celebrating achievements throughout the school's 116-year history.
