Diamondbacks stay hot with win over Phillies
PHOENIX (KYMA) - The Diamondbacks pulled off a gritty 4‑3 comeback at home against the Philadelphia Phillies Saturday afternoon, keeping hope alive in the NL Wild Card race.
Zac Gallen delivered another strong outing, going seven innings, allowing just three runs on four hits, and tallying nine strikeouts.
Philadelphia struck first, taking a 2‑0 lead early behind contributions from Kyle Schwarber and J.T. Realmuto. Then Alec Bohm homered in the fourth to make it 3‑2.
Arizona got on the board in the sixth. Blaze Alexander and James McCann ripped back‑to‑back doubles to tie it up. Then, Ildemaro Vargas came through with a clutch go‑ahead single off reliever Tanner Banks.
From there the bullpen held firm. John Curtiss closed it out with a save, preserving the one‑run lead.
This win moves the D‑backs to 78-77, inching closer in the Wild Card standings, now two games back from the final spot.
