Yuma Youth Hockey League getting ready for year number 25
YUMA, Ariz. (KYMA, KECY) - The Yuma Youth Hockey League (YYHL) is gearing up for a milestone season as it laces up for its 25th year.
With a quarter-century of hockey under its belt, the league is aiming to make this season its biggest yet.
Registration is now open for the upcoming season, and the league is calling on the community to help bring in more participation.
Before the puck officially drops, however, YYHL is offering two "learn to skate" sessions designed to get newcomers ready for the rink. The first session begins August, with the second scheduled for August 25.
Beyond just growing numbers on the ice, the league is focused on shaping strong, well-rounded individuals.
"Our mission is to really build hockey in the Yuma community, and we strive to do that on and off the rink," said Marina Roloff, the league's director of publicity. "Our goal is really to build character and teach teamwork, discipline, and leadership - skills that translate beyond hockey and into everyday life and our community."
YYHL is also actively recruiting coaches and volunteers.
Whether you're a returning player, a first-time skater, or someone who wants to make a difference from behind the bench, the YYHL is welcoming all levels of involvement.
