Chargers kickoff NFL season with Hall of Fame Game
CANTON, Ohio (KYMA, KECY) - The five-plus month wait is over. The NFL season is upon us.
The Los Angeles Chargers are commencing the 2025 NFL preseason against the Lions in the Hall of Fame Game Thursday, July 31.
It's the Chargers' second appearance in the game, with the first go-around coming in the 1994 preseason.
On the day following the game, Chargers legend Antonio Gates will receive his gold jacket in a special ceremony before officially being inducted into Professional Football Hall of Fame on August 2.
Gates played for the Chargers from 2003-2018 and accumulated 955 receptions for 11,841 receiving yards and 116 receiving touchdowns.
His 116 touchdowns is the most ever by a tight end.
