MMA Legend Randy Couture hospitalized following racetrack crash

KANSAS CITY, Mo. (KYMA, KECY) -Â Former UFC champion and MMA icon Randy Couture has been hospitalized with serious injuries after a single-car accident Tuesday at a Kansas City-area professional stock racetrack.
Couture, 62, was airlifted to a specialized burn care unit after sustaining first- and second-degree burns, smoke inhalation, and trauma injuries.
Sources close to the family confirmed that medical teams are hopeful about a full recovery, though it remains early in his treatment.
Couture, a two-weight UFC champion and Hall of Famer since 2006, was training to make his debut in the National Hot Rod Association later this year.
An avid motorcyclist, he had entered the licensing process for official racing when the accident occurred.
Despite his ongoing health battle, Couture remains deeply connected to the MMA world. He operates the Xtreme Couture gym in Las Vegas and serves as a color commentator for PFL events on ESPN.
The MMA community is rallying around its most respected elder statesman as he faces this critical recovery period.
