Lady Shamrocks tennis survives quarterfinals with win at home over Thatcher

Yuma Catholic has still yet to lose a team matchup this season, as the Rocks advance to the semi-finals of the Division III championship

YUMA, Ariz. (KYMA, KECY) - Yuma Catholic (13-0) took down Thatcher (12-3) 5-3 at the Ray Kroc Sports Complex on Tuesday.

The win continues an unbeaten season for the Lady Shamrocks, who now advance to the semi-final round against the winner of the Scottsdale Prep vs. Northdale Prep matchup.

Among Wednesday's winners was senior Grace Lanning, who took down the Eagles' Sophia Haynie in two sets.

"I want to give it all to my team, they’re just like the best team ever, we’re so excited we made it this far," Lanning said.

On the court right next to Lanning's, junior Annie Scarborough also took her match, needing three sets to do so.

Scarborough says she drew from past experience falling in the first set to make the comeback and take the next two for the win.

"I just thought, you know I've done it before I can do it again," Scarborough said.

Semi-finals will kickoff on Friday at the Paseo Racquet Center in Glendale, Ariz.
