Yuma Catholic tennis prepping for state championship run
Over 10 players are representing the Shamrocks in the Division III tournament
YUMA, Ariz. (KYMA, KECY) - Yuma Catholic tennis is gearing up for what they hope is a deep run in the Division III state championship.
Head coach Kenneth Sandoval says his team has taken steps beyond the court to get ready.
"We prepared very hard for this, and hopefully all the preparation that we did, not only for practices but everything, emotionally, physically, I think we're ready for the tournament this year," Sandoval said.
Sandoval will have 10 players representing the Shamrocks in state meets, with four on the boys' side and six on the girls' side.

"We are so proud of them, we're very happy at YC right now," Sandoval said.
In addition to being undefeated, the girls' team (12-0) also claimed a Division VII regional title.
Sandoval says one of his standout players has been senior Grace Lanning, who has totaled a record of 24-1 this season between singles and doubles matches.
Those wins have also earned Lanning a ranking of fifth overall in Arizona.
"She's really doing great, hopefully she will be in finals, we're praying for it," Sandoval said.
The boys' team will compete in Phoenix on Friday, while the girls will compete again in Yuma on Tuesday for the quarterfinal round against Thatcher.
