Former Wildcat football star Chuck Cecil makes Yuma appearance
The All-American and Pro Bowl player came with Arizona athletics as part of the Bear Down Takeover Tour
YUMA, Ariz. (KYMA, KECY) - Chuck Cecil, a former Arizona Wildcats football player who played for the team from 1985-1987, was in Yuma Wednesday evening.
Cecil came with Arizona as part of the Bear Down Takeover Tour, in which the athletic department heads to cities outside of Tucson to engage with local alumni and fans.
"So great to just engage with the Yuma people here, and you know, they're Wildcats, they love their Wildcats, so it's just really nice to be able to come down and spend a little time with them," Cecil said.
Cecil, who is currently a senior defensive specialist with Wildcat football, also talked about how the team's spring program is going.
Among many things, Cecil praised head coach Brent Brennan, who is going into his second year with the program.
"Coach Brennen has done a fantastic job I mean, we’ve got some new guys on the staff we really are full of a lot of energy and ready to rumble," Cecil said.
From what he has seen so far, Cecil says fans can expect to see a Wildcat squad that can't wait to hit the field.
"The team has really bought in, like I said, I don’t know how to explain it exactly, but it’s a very good thing, the boys are in, and they’re ready to play some ball," Cecil said.
Arizona's season will kick off Aug. 30 against Hawaii.
